What questions have humans been asking since the beginning of time, and what answers have they posited to those questions? What do you think about the big existential questions that have challenged humanity?
This is the focus of Great Ideas, a 10th grade LASA signature course. We invite you to join the conversations that perplexed and inspired thinkers throughout history - about what it means to live in society, what it good and what is evil, what it means to know anything and how we share that information with others, and what is means to be beautiful and to create beauty (and a whole host of other questions). Our goal is to introduce you to a variety of thinkers, movements, and critiques that have shaped human thought, particularly Western thought, and to guide you through the research process to discover your own answers.
You will be expected to read, think and write critically about what you observe and research, and finally, you will be required to produce your own representation of a particular question that interests you and the various answers you have found to that question.
